Current Projects

Wind Energy America is engaged in the development of wind energy farms in several areas of the U.S.

Wind Energy America projects are located primarily in western U.S. states and there are additional opportunistic projects that we are pursuing in other markets.

Wind Energy America owns developer interests in the CHI Energy Wind Farms - This group of 16 small wind farms are managed and maintained collectively, and contain a total of 46 wind turbines (Vestas 660kw) having a total rated capacity of 30.36 megawatts. They generate electricity at an average annual rate of 93,000,000 kilowatt hours (kWh), or enough power to supply about 7,500 homes. CHI Energy wind farms are located both in the north end of Lincoln County near Shaokatan Hills/Lakota Ridge and in the south end of Lincoln County near Lake Benton.

Wind Energy America owns developer interests in Lakota Ridge Wind Farm: Fifteen 0.75 megawatt wind turbines are located on Buffalo Ridge in southwestern Minnesota.  The project supplies approximately 31,000,000 kilowatt-hours annually, or enough power to supply about 2,800 homes.

Wind Energy America owns developer interests in Shaokatan Hills Wind Farm: Located on Buffalo Ridge in southwest Minnesota, this wind farm utilizes 18 Vestas wind turbines providing 11.88 megawatts of electric capacity and produces approximately 38,000,000 kilowatt-hours annually, or enough power to supply about 3000 homes.

The Wind Energy America Zachary Ridge and LJ Trust Wind Farm

Located on Buffalo Ridge in northwest Iowa, this wind farm utilizes 2 Gamesa G-87wind turbines providing 4.0 Megawatts of electric capacity.  One turbine is in operation and the other is in final stages of commissioning.   The project is expected to produce an average of approximately 10,000,000 kilowatt-hours annually, or enough power to supply about 1000 homes.

The Wind Energy America NAE Shaokatan Power Partners LLC Wind Farm: Located on Buffalo Ridge in southwest Minnesota, this wind farm situated behind our Midwest Center for Wind Energy utilizes 2 Gamesa G-52 wind turbines providing 1.6 Megawatts of electric capacity.  It is in final stages of commissioning and is expected to produce an average of approximately 4,000,000 kilowatt-hours annually, or enough power to supply about 400 homes.

Wind Energy America

At Wind Energy America we develop and promote high quality, clean, renewable energy sources, in an effort to better our shared environment. We leverage our technical, management and financial expertise in developing and building wind-powered electricity generation facilities, harnessing a power abundantly found in nature, and channeling it into local electrical grids. The clean energy that will be created by these wind farms will be used by municipalities and utilities to provide clean energy to homes and businesses.

The Wind Energy America value-added strategy is to utilize the substantial energy industry experience of our management team, create value by developing our pipeline of targeted project sites, take advantage of our combined experience and networks we have developed in the construction and operation of wind farms, enter into value-added strategic relationships with landowners, wind-turbine manufacturers, power customers, state and local governments and other power generators, and move swiftly to maximize value in the fast growing renewable energy market in North America today.

Wind Energy America creates projects which mutually benefit everyone involved, while contributing to our nation’s efforts towards reducing global warming and energy security. Our wind farms are typically located in rural communities where they retain the jobs, as well as land lease revenue for farmers and ranchers. Our wind turbines are compatible with rural land uses—crops can be grown and livestock can be grazed up to the base of the turbine. Our wind farms also provide an increased local tax base for these communities.

Clean, Simple & Sound

As a producer of renewable energy, our approach is "Clean, Simple & Sound" Clean: Low-impact development of renewable energy resources. Simple: Featuring a growing and diverse portfolio of wind energy assets. Sound: Meeting both the interest of investors and the needs of the environment.
